Using an abstract genre to create pieces that use multiple elements form various paper sources to create art that exaggerates, mocks and reconceptualises images, Hannah Hoch’s art is typically based around political issues and figures using cut-outs from various photographs, magazines and newspapers to create her art. This form or art was part of the ‘berlin dada’ movement.

Image result for hannah hochborn in 1889 in Gotha, Hannah Hoch found her style after enrolling in the berlin school of applied arts in 1915 within the museum of applied arts in which she began to apply this art to match and mock current events using the resources available to her, she was also met her long-term partner Raoul Hausmann who also used the berlin dada style of art in which both of these artists encourage and influenced each other’s art allowing them to flourish into greater artists through each other’s experiences, her later relationship was with the poet and linguist Til Brugman. the art of Hannah Hoch gained its fame after the second world war with her work being exhibited internationally to great acclaim.

Though the application of her art style is not my personal favourite I do like the use of splicing to create images of a new form by combining features of all manner of people and creatures in interesting and humorous ways. Therefore, to work in her style I will use images that I have taken and potentially use photoshop instead of cut-outs to give this style a far more modern update to this style of art.
