Peony yip
Peony yip is a Hong Kong based
minimalist artist and graduate form the honk Kong design institute, she mainly
focuses mainly on portraits of the heads and faces of young women, animals and
objects such helmets, the mediums used also aid the minimalistic style of her
work with pencil and watercolours being the most common medium.

Her most recognised work features
the pencil drawn portraits of young women overlaid with the portrait of an
animal in red pencil to create a simple but striking image that can be either
delicate or powerful depending on the animal used over the portraits, most of
her other works use colour in a creative way and she usually never uses more
than two base colours at a time unless the image is meant to represent realism
more, the drawings of the animal and human do look realistic but the absence of
a background is most likely what puts her art into the minimalist category.
The main source of inspiration for peony is mainly form blogs of
her inspirational artists so that she can learn from the art created by them.
When drawing the people and animals they are often posed alike, for example the
rabbit features the human subject holding her hands above her head in a way
that mimics a rabbit, this brings the subjects closer together and improves the
aesthetics of the image.
